The most satisfying acquisition

I have done dozens of acquisitions in my career from £1 to tens of millions but the most satisfying deal I have ever done, and one of the hardest to negotiate and complete, was buying the assets of Remploy Automotive from the UK Government and renaming the business Rempower. It took almost 12 months to conclude but I never once thought anything other than we will do the deal for one reason-the business had over 200 disabled people in its 3 sites of Coventry, Birmingham and Derby and they are amongst the very best employees it has been my privilege to lead. We completed on 13th December and it was one of the proudest days of my life. There is a REAL place in the workforce for disabled people and it is one that all employers should embrace and adopt.
